Busy weeks and nearing the end

Thought it was time to write a wee update of things here in my little world. Things have been a little busy for me since I last posted mostly with college stuff as it in now only 3 weeks before the end of the course, so I have had quite a bit of work to do, nothing to difficult though just a report on the heating and magnetic effects of a few diffrent electrical items including a light bulb and a AC Induction Motor.

That may sound easy but it isn't really as trying to write something about a light bulb is slightly difficult because it is a very simple device. What can you say apart from the electric current heats the wire and with that you get light. The AC Induction Motors I thought would have been easier as they are a little more complex but it was difficult to explain the operation of one, I understand how it works and all that but trying to write it down so that someone with no knowledge of them could understand it was difficult. Anyway that report has now been done and handed in wasn't too bad in the end. However with 3 weeks to go I now have another report to do and basically only have 1 week to do it as it will need to be in and checked next week and returned to me the following week for corrections (shouldn't need them as I will be making sure it is perfect first time as I want the last week to be quiet). Other than that nearly all the course work is completed and only have a few things to tidy up so it is looking good so far. Hopefully everything goes well and I get on the HNC next year.

Other than the college as usual I have been following the Formula 1 and of course all things happening down at Forthbank. The F1 has been good the past few weeks and well Brawn GP are still doing well with Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello taking the 1, 2 at what has to be easily the best circuit on the F1 callander, in Monaco. I have to say ever since I started watching F1 when I was about 4 or 5 I have never missed a Monaco Grand Prix, it was always one of the circuits that we loved in the house. The race this year wasn't that intresting for some people as there wasn't much action as on the streets of Monaco overtaking is almost impossible so we don't see many changes in position but Monaco isn't about overtaking it is all about the skill of the driver throughout the course as one mistake in Monaco is more than likely going to end with a car in the crash barrier.

On the Stirling Albion front everything is looking good so far, we have managed to retain most of last years squad so credit to the wee Allan Moore for doing so unfortunatly I really think on the Goalkeeping front he should have released Myles Hogarth, as much as I like Myles I really do think that he would have been better off going to another team as it is now clear that Scott Christie is going to be the number 1 next season. Myles is a superb 'keeper and doesn't deserve to be on the bench all the time. I however hope though that since he is staying on he helps develop Scott's skills as from what I have seen of Scott this season he looks like he could be a decent 'keeper he just needs to cut out the camera saves as well as bulking up a bit and he really needs to learn how to organise his defence for all aspects of the game.

While on about football I now know how Allan Moore must feel during a game as being a manager at Forthbank isn't easy as on Saturday there I was co manager of a supporters team in the anual Stirling Albion Supporters Club fundraiser. On the Friday me and my co manager Andy Japp met up with the organiser James Smith or MIF as he is known and also our opponent managers where there Craig Dolby and Jimmy Watson just so we could pick the teams for the game. Since two time champions Redweb Is Best For Reports And Photos were one of the teams it was clear that that had to be my team and after that I handed over to Andy so he could pick the team and well done to Andy for his sellection as when it came to game day we had a group of players that worked as a team and that is what we needed.

On game day I left the warm up to Andy as he is a good coach and got the experiance from playing with Beechwood Albion (one of the Stirling Albion Supporters Teams) and well compared to our opponents Stirling Albion Buyers our warm up session was more organised with Andy getting the guys to work together and knowing each others names as well as getting their muscles warmed up ready for their cup final moment on the Forthbank pitch. Just before the kick off it was back to the dressing room for the pre match team talk that again I left to Andy but I didn't stay quiet it was just a case of telling the guys to go out their and enjoy the game and make sure we got in about our opponents. After lining up like they do in the cup finals it was time to get in my dug out ready for the first 45 minutes of footy. Me and Andy were ready for the game so were our guys. I was left to make sure each of our players had an equal amount of time on the pitch which I thought would be easy but making sure you take the right player off at the right time can be difficult but thankfully to Andy's team picking skills he had made sure we had a versatile bunch of players so we could rotate players in the team with ease. After the frst half was over we were 3 v 2 up and me and And were both in the referees wee black book after a pitch invasion to celebrate our third goal by Gareth Samson, not strictly how a manager should act when we score but who gives a f**k.

The halftime team talk was along the lines of getting the players told not to give away scrappy goals like we did and get back out there thinking it was back to 0 v 0. One thing though I'm sure in the home dressing room things were diffrent for the Dolby/Watson administration as our guys were up on our feet soon after getting in the dressing room ready to go out for the second half. The second half was much the same as the first and for the last 30 minutes I was left to solo in the dug out as Andy had to go on as one of our guys was needing a rest. So it was up to me to get the rest of our substitutions out the way without causing tomany issues. Unfortunaly that idea was shot down in flames with another injury 10 minutes from time but luckily we I had some one to come on for the last 10 minutes unlike Stirling Albion Buyers who required to bring in a couple of extra players to cover injuries. At full time the final score was.

Stirling Albion Buyers 4 V 7 Redweb Is Best For Reports And Photos

Yes it was my team that one but really I couldn't care who won as it was all about having a fun day and raising money for the Supporters Club, I would ust like to say well done to all the guys involved with the match and thank you to everyone who raised over £1600 for the Supporters Club.

Star Trek

What an amazing film! Just back from seeing it and just can not describe how good it was.

The trailers do not do it justice. The visual effects were superb, the script was superb the whole film was SUPERB!

Think I may just need to go and see it again as I am totally lost for words as of what to say.

Weekend finally over.

Yes it is Tuesday and my weekend has just ended after Saturdays postponment of the final Stirling Albion game of the season due to a water logged pitch. I usually wouldn't be to bothered about it but I was one of the members of the Supporters Trust that was sponsoring the game. The referee took some time deciding if the game should go ahead but really there was only going to be one outcome and that was to postpone the game, however if the referee did listen to both managers about getting the pitched forked and letting the players warm up for 20 minutes then the surface water would have been drained. But no the referee wasn't wanting to get any more wet than he already was. So the game was postponed until Monday night. That didn't stop us from having a good time though as we decided to countinue with the Player of the Year presentation. Only two players this year who deserved the player of the yeatr award and it was Martin Grehan and Andy Graham.

Bored, Bored, Bored

Yes I am BORED. Sitting here in the college library with nothing to do as I didn't bring my flash drive with me as I didn't think I would need it. To combat being bored I am looking at the Stirling Albion forum and following the updates that are trickling through relating to tonights meeting and as I said on the dedicated blog that this plan looks great but that isn't help combat my boredom. I am supposed to be helping Tony out with his report thing but he is doing well at least he can describe how a light bulb works if nothing else.

I thought librarys are supposed to be quiet places for study and things like that but this place isn't quiet with the noise of photo copiers and people talking. Mind you it is supposed to be a place of study and I'm not doing much of that.

New Stirling Bridge Late and Stirling Albion win too late

Had a good weekend not done much the past couple of days. Yesterday I went out to the opening of the Forthside Bridge that is to link the City centre of Stirling to the new Forthside development which just now consists of a couple of restaurants and a cinema and thats it.

As with everything to do with the Council the bridge has opened a little bit late in fact I think it is around 6 to 8 months late, but better late than never. In all honesty though it was worth the wait as it is truly a stunning design of bridge. At first when I seen the concept drawings of the bridge I was a bit sceptical that it would be a working design. I have always loved the look of it and think it is something to be proud to have in the City. I however am still slightly doubtful about the bridge construction as when I was on it it did feel like there was a little too much movement.
I have uploaded other photos of the bridge over at my flikr page and will set up a link to that once I have worked out how to do it.

Other than the Bridge opening I was keeping up to date with the score from Methil where the Binos were taking on East Fife in the last away game of the season, I couldn't make the game as I didn't have the cash and it looks like I missed a good game as well since we won 3 V 0. It is typical though the week that I miss we win, any way got next week to look forward to where I am sponsoring the game along with members of the supporters club and since it is the last game of the season we are also having the Player of the Year presentation next Saturday.

Today has been another lazy day, no formula 1 this week so just cleaned my wee car fully inside and out so now she looks clean but give it until Wednesday and she will be dirty again. I really hate having a building site across the road nothing can be kept clean. I have also been setting up my dads new toy this weekend, he decided to go and buy a little Acer Aspire One netbook so he could learn how to use a computer which is a great idea but as with everything with computers I was left to set it up and get him connected into my network so he can print of stuff. Didn't take too long to do though after I had to do a system restore as it was an ex display model so it still had some passwords on it that had to be removed done that and now he has a fully functioning netbook with both Linux Linpus and Ubuntu on it. Was going to get him to have Windows XP but since Linux and Ubuntu are a lot safer and not much goes wrong with them I decided that it was a good idea to have them instead of Windows.

Long weekend

It's the May holiday and I'm off college for a few days again but I'm not going to have much time to myself got a little assignment to do for college. Don't know what to write for it but I should be able to get some thing sorted out.

Apart from that I'm going to try and have a lazy weekend and just relax. Not going to the football this week as I don't have the money for the trip to Methil to watch us take on East Fife. I'm just trying to save the pennies for the Sponsor game and player of the year day next weekend.

As I said a few posts ago I was going to look at getting fit. Really need to do something as I am unfit just now. My plan is to walk for my short trips and only use the car when I really need to, also plan to try and walk at least 3 miles a day, not much just now but it is a start. Other idea is to go swimming at the new lesiure place in Stirling, down by Forthbank at least once or twice a week and do some lengths of the pool just start of doing about 20 lengths a session which is only 500m but since I haven't swam or years it is a start. And finaly getting back on my bike and doing a couple of miles a few times a week.

Now looking that after the first week I will probably be dead so think I should gradually build it up. Once though I am happy I will start to increase it and hopefully go to the gym as well.

Just before I go I would like to inform you about my other blog I am doing which is going to be dedicated to the campaign to Save Stirling Albion from financial ruin. I hope to keep it updated as much as I can and would love for who ever reads it to email a link to others and get people to join it. Just go over to http://save-stirlingalbion.blogspot.com/ and you will get all the latest information and some of my opinions and if I have time I hope to reincarnate something that the fans enjoyed a few years ago.
